A first of many I think

It has been a long, long time since I actually have sewn anything. I made a few things for young women's projects in high school but nothing really since then. I knew I liked to sew and I have been wanting to attempt it for a while. I think I was just nervous to start, how or what do I start with. So I just went with it. I have been wanting to make a dress for Kyla from a shirt of Dustin's and I found this one he bought and has never worn it because the neck was too "femme" he said. It really was weird and looked funny on him. So I thought it would be perfect. I used one of her other dresses as a guide line and the rest, I just guessed! It only took me around an hour and I actually really like it.

Here it is before:

And after!

What do ya think? I am going to do some more in the next couple days. Talk about saving money eh! I want to do one with one of his button up shirts. Wish me luck!

I think it's darling. You never know what you can and cannot do, unless you try...you've seen all my attempts at many many sewing projects, but at least I now know whether I want to make more or not. Good for you!!!

Cute!!!! I love it! You are the frugal Queen. I really need to learn how to sew. I guess I should get gutsy and at least try it.

Goow work Mindy, it would be so cute with a button up shirt too. I love finding easy projects to do, but I seem to have too many on the go right now.

It looks good!! Very creative to take an old shirt and turn it into something good. I can't wait to see how the other one turns out...I want a button up shirt dress!!

Mindy, you did a great job! I'm all about projects that can save money too. I should look through Ryan's shirts and see if he has any he wants to get rid of if you want some to practice on. Good for you for!!
