Trip to Emergency

I don't know what's wrong with me but it feels like every time I have to go to the hospital, it's in the middle of the night. So this past week I got UTI (urinary tract infection) and I read that it could go away on it's own with lots of water, cranberry juice and keeping your bladder empty. But after a few days if it doesn't go away to go to the doctor. I had one a couple months ago and it went away by itself so I figured this one would. Well today was the day I was actually going to go see the doctor but I think I waited a little too long. I went to bed with a little pain in my back under my ribs on the right side. But almost just felt like a knot or something. I woke up at 1:30am and had to go to the bathroom and the pain in my back was a little worse, well I figured I'd go to sleep and it go away. Literally 8 minutes later I was moaning in excruciating pain! I was going to throw up and pass out at the same time. Nothing made it feel better and it was getting worse by the second! I honestly think labour was better! At least the contractions stop for a couple minutes! So we called Jill, thank goodness Travis is off for a few days, and she came right over. I couldn't even walk it hurt so bad. So ends up I had a kidney infection, which I kind of figured it was, and they gave me 3 different antibiotics right away and some wicked painkillers. I don't even know what they were called, it started with a P. Prim...something. Anyways we were in and out in 2 hours by the time the whole IV went through me. It still hurts a little, just sore to touch. Man I hate having problems.

So I think I learned my lesson on waiting and maybe it's better to go to the doctor right away. I just hate having to book an appointment and find someone to watch the kids etc etc. So I usually just hope and pray that I get better on my own. Thank goodness for painkillers though! Oh and of course Jill! Thank you so much, you saved me!

Oh no! Ouch!!

You hit the nail on the head as to the reasons why us moms ALWAYS wait so long to get to a doctor. What a pain it is to get there.....and yet we end up in worse pain.

SO sorry you are dealing with that now. YUCK! Hope you are feeling MUCH better soon.

P.S. LOVE LOVE LOVE my letter on my wall. It came to the door just SECONDS before we were headed out of town this past weekend again. I made everyone wait in the van for me while I cut my package open to see.. I couldn't wait. LOL!

Oh man, I'm sorry! That sucks! I've never had anything like that, but if it feels like labour, no thanks!

OUCH!! UTI's are nasty!

I hope it's not to much information, but after having my son and then having my daughter 16 months later I had issues with my bladder that caused me to get UTI's every few months that turned into every month. IT sucked! It took me two years to actually go to my family doctor and say hey I've been the ER this many times with UTI's I think there is a problem. And sure enough I saw a specialist and I had a bad irritation caused by the catheter I had with my first child being born and got worse with the birth of my second child. A simple surgery corrected the issue and I have been free of UTI's for almost 6 months. Although my kidneys hurt on the days I am too busy to drink enough water. I feel your pain!! Hope your feeling better!!
