need some advice

I'm not too sure what to do here. A little help?? please!!!

The girls are hating wearing diapers as I said in the previous post, and they take them off if there is any pee in them and actually take them off no matter what all the time. They hate it when they do have pee in them and tell me every time and take them off and don't want a new one on.

SO now how do I get them to go on the potty? They don't want to sit on it for more than 5 seconds and they don't quite get the bribe thing and I think it'll cause more tantrums than anything because they'll want more and more of whatever the bribe is and won't understand. They didn't quite get the sticker thing so I assume if I get "treats" or anything it'll be the same thing or worse. It just seems like more work for me, with these girls. So what do I do to get them to go on the actual potty instead of peeing all over my house like a bunch of animals?? I feel like we're caught in the middle, I know we've made progress with the no diaper thing etc, but that's it and I don't want to go backwards and forget it. Kyla was so easy and trained in a day with no accidents.....so this is all new, and with two. I don't know if they can quite feel the sensation and run to the potty but who knows. Anyways, some advice? I know it's twins and it's different but not really.

Good thing I have a steam cleaner on hand!!

Jack loved sitting on his, loved the sticker thing, loved the dollar store toys. I had them in a clear container up high where he could SEE, but not TOUCH, so even in the beginning, just SITTING on the potty got him a smaller toy. Try that? I don't know what to tell you except DO NOT GIVE UP! You will miss your window of opportunity. Get them to sit on it every 20 minutes. Let them watch you go (i know, gross, but it works). Make a party if they actually go! Even just pushing out a toot was exciting for Jack and we would give him a tiny dollar store toy. I dunno girly!

I know all the "experts" say not to but I put the little potty in front of the T.V. and had them sit on it if they wanted to watch a show and eventually they went on the potty and got A LOT of praise so they thought they were so awesome and kept doing it.
Good luck!

K, this is weird because I don't know you at all in person- yup I'm one of your blog-stalkers! But I totally know what you're going through because we're dealing with the same in our house, only Kalea went on the potty for a whole week and has since reverted to just stripping naked when her diaper is wet. I ask her constantly if she needs to go and now I'm at the point that as soon as I go get her from her room in the morning we go to the bathroom- even if she doesn't do anything it's still getting her in the habit I guess. But I'm with ya, it's hard when you have no clue what you're doing, and I definitely have no clue!

Both my kids did the same thing and Jana told me to let them run around without anything on. Jared was trained within 4 days, Mady was one day. Girls react faster since it dribbles down their leg and they don't like it. So if you catch them peeing or they cry cuz its going down their leg, take them to the potty and just talk about peeing in it. Don't ever get mad, just talk to them about it. If you don't mind cleaning up the accidents for a few days, maybe try it and maybe it'll work for you too. Letting them run naked was the best thing I ever did. They were trained so fast.

That is a tough one, I have found the naked thing just works the best. Maybe take them outside and let them run around and pee out there and see what that does?? If it helps them even just recognise the sensation?? I am thinking of you..potty training can be stressful with 1 let alone 2!!

I know sometimes nothing works, some kids just take longer then others and nothing you do can change that...There is a book on potty training, I think you can get it at the library and I heard it was a good one, too bad I can't think of the name of it..I know helpful right??
Maybe go buy a doll that you can squeeze the water out the end of it and have the girls sit it on the potty and help it go pee..like feed and pee dolls?? They have those right?? Good luck!!

k so best advice ever!. So go buy them cute little girl panties.. and have them pick them out.. but put them over the diaper.. so they still have a diaper but cute exciting new panties on also. I can see it working actually. Maybe they will be potty trained before ya know it!! good luck! xoxo

i am with you on the "no more diapers" thing. i don't think it's a good idea to keep putting them on, once you commit. not like i'm any kind of expert, clearly. . . since i'm in the middle of this myself right now. . .

but i agree with letting them just run around naked. it worked for norah, she got used to the sensation pretty fast and then could tell me "pee" after one day. now we're just taking it day by day. i'm actually just finishing up my post about this last week! i'm right there with you, except for the twins part. . . i actually started with norah on the big toilet and a little seat, instead of the little potty, cause she would just hop right off of the little one all the time! now though, since i started her on the big one, she will go on either. i guess that would be hard with two, and trying to sit them both on the big toilet! sorry.

that's all i've got. . .

I set the timer for every.....12 minutes & when it beeped we stop & I'd look at Carson & we'd run to the potty. Even if he didn't do anything he got lots of praise & got to wash his hands (loves to play in water) & then we'd set the timer again. Then I increased the time on the timer & soon it'd go off & he'd tell me he didn't have to go this time. And sometimes he'd beat the timer & go on his own. I tried not to bug & ask him too much because he just got annoyed. I put him in just pj pants or just undies so he could feel when he was wet. He didn't understand the sticker thing either, but I did have some toys he could have if he stayed dry for a whole day.....two days....whatever. Lots of praise, lots of not getting mad at messes but explaining and showing (I had him help me clean up the messes). Good luck!! I can't imagine doing it with two! It'll all work out!

if you dont feel like they are ready, this is what we did with Rylee. She wouldnt go on the potty, but was always taking her diaper off and going on the floor, pee and poop, SO I started to tape her diaper on her, like packing tape, ALL the way around (she figured out how to find the end when I just put a piece on the front and still got it off), anyway, it only took awhile and she doesnt take it off much anymore...I still dont feel like she is 100% ready, so diapers are cheaper than pull-ups, so that is what we do!

Hey Mindy you might have already figured this out but I figured I would send something. I lucked out and memphis potty trained himself. When I bought him underwear he had four accidents in one day and that was that. I also bought the thick kind so it was a little less mess. Make a big deal every time they sitt on the potty. As for the treats or prizes they are smarter than we sometimes think. memphis got one fruit snack for going pee and two if he went poo and he was fine with that. I would also focus on the girl that shows the most interest and the other one should follow close behind.
